Honors Program
Montgomery College is committed to providing high-ability, motivated students with stimulating and challenging opportunities both within and outside the classroom. Honors offering are varied and include honors seminars, honors sections of existing courses, independent study/tutorials, and honors modules. Each campus will have somewhat different honors offerings based on faculty interests and the number of students participating in the Honors Program. Honors offerings are listed in the class schedule, with either an HP prefix or an HC or HM suffix in the course number. Each campus has a specialized honors program: Millennium Scholars at Germantown, Montgomery Scholars at Rockville, and Takoma Park Scholars at Takoma Park.

To enroll in honors classes, students must have at least a 3.2 grade point average and must have completed at least 12 credit hours of college-level course work, including EN 101 or EN 101A with a grade of A or B. Exceptions to these requirements may be made on a case-by-case basis by the campus honors coordinator. Recent high school graduates may be admitted to honors courses based on evaluation of high school grade reports.

   
Macklin Business
Institute
The Gordon and Marilyn Macklin Business Institute is a competitive collegewide program offering sophomore-level business students with a minimum 3.2 grade point average an opportunity to pursue honors work in economics, statistics, and accounting; to be mentored by both a faculty member and a corporate executive; and to participate in a business internship and weekly honors seminar.
   
Millennium Scholars The Millennium Scholars is an honors program designed with the needs of part-time students in mind; the program includes team-taught, interdisciplinary evening courses that fulfill many of the basic graduation requirements.
   
Montgomery Scholars The Montgomery Scholars Program is a selective-admissions two-year honors program designed for high school graduates who ultimately plan to transfer to a four-year institution.
   
Phi Theta Kappa Phi Theta Kappa is the national honor society for students at two-year colleges. To be considered for election to Phi Theta Kappa, a student must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 for at least 15 credit hours of course work (excluding EL and RD courses) at Montgomery College. A cumulative grade point average of 3.4 is required to maintain membership.
   
Smithsonian/Library of Congress Internships The Smithsonian and Library of Congress Student Internship Program provides opportunities for Montgomery College students who have at least a 3.5 grade point average and meet other academic criteria to work under the mentorship of a Smithsonian or Library of Congress researcher, curator, or project director. Students earn three credits for the semester and usually work with their mentor one or two days a week.
   
Takoma Park Scholars The Takoma Park Scholars Program is designed for full-time or part-time students interested in being part of an honors community while they acquire courses needed for their associate's degree or beyond
