About the High Technology and Science Center

The High Technology and Science Center opened at the Germantown Campus for the fall 1996 semester. Constructed with state and county funds and equipped with generous assistance from the private sector, the Center houses programs and courses integrally related to the high technology industries of Montgomery County.

The Center features computer-equipped classrooms for use by many disciplines and speciality laboratories for curricula in biotechnology, computer-aided drafting and design (using current Autocad software), computer applications/computer science, computer graphics, electronic technology, microcomputer technician, physics/engineering transfer, telecommunications technology, and a new program in automation and control technology. Students in these programs also take courses from the technical writing certificate. Teleconference studios, a seminar room, and 500 seat auditorium will provide valuable meeting space.

The programs and courses taught in the facility emphasize technical skills, mathematics, communications, and skills in critical thinking, creativity, team dynamics, and problem solving. The College is committed, as well, to instilling in its students the foundation for understanding culture and history and the adaptability to change.
