Montgomery College phone numbers changed May 21. Under the new system, everyone at the College is using the same area code and exchange: 240-567-xxxx. The last four digits remained the same for everyone. So if you have an old phone number for any College office, you’ll be able to reach them using the new area code and exchange with the old four-digit extension. For example, the Alumni Office’s old phone number, 301-279-5378, now is 240-567-5378. To learn more, visit www.mcinfonet.org/it/oneareacode.
*************************
The Alumni Directory is being updated. The Alumni Office has retained Harris Connect to update the Montgomery College Alumni Directory, which will include all past students with 12 or more credits. Watch your mail for information on how you can ensure that your classmates, friends, and networking contacts can stay connected with you. Your cooperation is highly valued. You will be asked to make a phone call to update your data. Between April 23 and August 1, you will receive instructional post cards and/or emails approximately 4 or 5 times or until you respond—so please respond early and help us to create the best alumni directory ever! For information about the Alumni Association’s directory project, visit www.montgomerycollege.edu/alumni/directory.html.
*************************
Your ID number has changed! Montgomery College has changed all student identification numbers—past and present—to new, randomly generated numbers starting with the letter “M.” This reduces the use of Social Security Numbers in the College's student records. New ID cards may be needed for Alumni Association members checking books out of any campus library, and for other things, too. To learn more about this change, visit www.montgomerycollege.edu/collegeid.
*************************
MC couples wanted! For forthcoming issues of Insights magazine, we're looking for couples who both attended MC. Did you meet here, or later? If you're part of an alumni couple, please e-mail us with your story about how you met, and tell us if Montgomery College is what brought you together! Send the details to Jessica Warnick, jessica.warnick@montgomerycollege.edu, or write to the Alumni Office, 900 Hungerford Drive, Suite 200, Rockville, MD 20850.

ALUMNI GIVING AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
A gift to support scholarships can change a life and provide new possibilities to students. You can help the growing number of students who could not enroll due to a lack of financial aid and scholarships available. Last year, that figure reached over 3,000 students.
It's the beginning of a new academic and fundraising year. Thank you for your support in the 2006-2007 year; be the first to make a donation for this year!
To make a donation to the 2007-2008 fund, please call LaVerne Gordon, associate development director, 240-567-4023, or mail your payment to the Montgomery College Foundation, 900 Hungerford Drive, Suite 200, Rockville, MD 20850. Please write "e-news" on the memo line of your check.
*************************
Scholarship Spotlight: Congratulations to Eveline Atontsa and Michel Kamga Kengne, 2006 recipients of the Dr. Harry Harden Jr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship! The scholarship for Montgomery College students honors the late Dean Harden, who passed away in 1998.

Your contributions can help support these students as they work to complete their educational programs. Please consider making a contribution to the Montgomery College Foundation for student scholarships, 900 Hungerford Drive, Suite 200, Rockville MD 20850. Mentoring Opportunities: Takoma Park/Silver Spring Student Development seeks both international and American alumni to participate as mentors in the International Buddy Program. The program provides a working relationship between current international students and past students who have either graduated or transferred from Montgomery College. Adjustment to a new community may be difficult, especially if there is a difference in language and culture. The International Buddy Program can help ease the transitional phase and help students adjust to the social, academic and cultural environment at Montgomery College. The primary mode of communication will be e-mail, unless otherwise agreed upon by both parties. All who are interested in serving as mentors must be alumni of Montgomery College. For more information or to volunteer, contact Dr. Harold Barber or Eniola Olowofoyeku at 240-567-1480, or e-mail harold.barber@montgomerycollege.edu or eniola.olowofoyeku.@montgomerycollege.edu. If you have a country or major of study mentor/mentee preference, please indicate that in your e‑mail.
