MC acceptable tests and minimum scores
Under normal conditions, you should be able to receive your scores the day of your exam – unless you are taking a required or optional essay. Required essays are graded separately by CLEP, and the combined score of the multiple choice and required essay will be available in one-three weeks. Optional essays are graded locally by the school you have designated, and may/may not take longer to grade than required essays.
back to topRequired essays that come as part of your test within the 90 minutes allotted time are graded by individuals designated by Educational Testing Service.
Optional essays are graded by individuals (usually faculty) at the school you have designated.
Note that for the optional essay, 90 minutes of test time is provided in addition to the 90 minutes usual exam time (for a total of 3 hours of testing time).
Whether you are taking a required or optional essay, your score is not complete until the computerized short answer score is combined with the essay score. You have passed the test only when you have passed BOTH the short answer and the essay portions of the
test. back to topHow soon does my school receive my official score from CLEP?
