Picture of Carine I am Carine Nadem, graduate of Seneca Valley High School, class of 2001. I was born in Cameroon and lived there until the age of sixteen. In 1998, I moved here, in the United States, in the pursuit of better education opportunities. This year, 2003, I am in my second year in college and I am planning to transfer to John Hopkins, UMBC, or Dickinson. I will be transferring to one of these school as a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major after receiving my AA degree in Premed. This past summer, I had the opportunity to work as an intern at Quality Biological, Inc. a biotechnology company involved in research and development for a potential AIDS vaccine, as well as the manufacture of cell culture and molecular biology reagents. At Quality Biological Inc., I worked as a quality control technician. My major tasks were to test how well the reagents worked using different testing method (PH, Osmolality, conductivity, endotoxin testing). I also tested the efficiency of the reagents by performing cell culture growth. At the end of my internship period, I was offered the position of quality control technician by Quality Biological Inc. where I now work, not as an intern, but as an employee.
