Hello. I am Rabia.

I was born in Bangladesh and moved to the United States in 2000. I graduated from Woodrow Wilson Senior High School in Washington, DC, in 2005. (Yea, Tigers!) Throughout all five years I was on the honors list. Being the first Bangladeshi girl ever to give a speech at the graduation ceremony made me very proud.

My dream is to help people around the world, especially women and children in Bangladesh, whose health needs are virtually ignored by the government. My role model is Mother Teresa. I realize that my goals can be realized only with a great breadth of vision and unfailing perseverance.

I am delighted to have been accepted for the Biomedical Scholars Program, where I can begin to develop the skills that I will need in order to achieve my goals. I am looking forward to exchanging information with scholars from other countries, contributing to their knowledge of the problems of societies in developing countries as well as learning from them the knowledge and techniques applicable to my future work in Bangladesh.Currently working on Heart Disease, the most common killer in the US.
