ABOUT MYSELF Hi! My name is Sangeeta Gauchan. I am from Nepal and have been in United States since October 2001. I recently graduated from Montrose Christian School. I am very much interested in science, especially biology. This is a subject of my interest because I want a medical career in my future. I am currently enrolled in Biomedical Scholars Program at Montgomery College. WHY BIOMEDICAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM? I did have the understanding that working towards medical career is not an easy process and that it requires a lot of hard work, dedication and devotion. Not only are such qualities necessary, but also a good education and comfortable learning environment that will nurture these qualities. For these very reasons, I picked the Biomedical Scholars Program. During my process of researching colleges, I came across the Biomedical Scholars Program offered at Montgomery College. At first glance at the information provided, the Program was very appealing to me. Its size and nature were its highlights.. The “small learning community of peers and faculty”, the guidance, assistance and counseling it provides to students and paid internships for summer makes it an ideal one for any student and I was not the exception. MY CAREER PLANS Three years ago, when I came to America, along with me, came my dreams and goals. I aim to pursue a medical career in the future. I am working my way towards it. Since I was small, I have always wanted to help others. My other experiences have also contributed to this interest. Having lived most of my life in Nepal, I have seen the worst scenarios of health issues which include people dying from minor causes due to unavailability of medical care or due to their belief in superstitions. I myself have become a victim of inadequate medical facility there. All these reasons have nurtured my interests in science and a medical career. I plan on doing two years at Montgomery College and then transfer to a four-year institution. I will be enrolling in the competitive classes that would challenge me and take me closer to my goal. I also look forward to doing a summer internship and adding much more to my great experience here at Montgomery College. |
