CA252 Advanced Spreadsheet Applications

Course Description

Provides study in the creation, design, and use of spreadsheets for business applications. Emphasis will focuses on formatting and enhancing spreadsheets, maintaining workbooks, working with lists, using appropriate functions, interpreting data, and template design.  3 semester hours.

Prerequisites/Corequisites

CA120 or successful completion of the departmental skills assessment.

Goals and/or Objectives

By the end of the course, the student will be able to:

Non-technical skills

Speak and write about the course topics with sufficient proficiency
Apply critical thinking to a variety of topics in the course

Development and enhancement of Electronic spreadsheet software

Explain the purpose of electronic spreadsheet software and its application to solve common business problems

Save spreadsheets for web use

Save spreadsheets as HTML files

Format spreadsheet data

Modify cell size and alignment
Apply general numbers formats
Apply formats and create custom formats
Apply outlines 
Use styles, conditional formatting, and autoformats

Create and apply ranges to data

Create and name ranges
Clear and format ranges
Copy and move ranges
Integrate range names

Use functions and solve mathematical problems

Use AVERAGE, MAX, MIN, LOOKUP, PMT, IF functions
Use worksheet and date functions
