DL Faculty Semester Checklist

Before the semester begins |

1 month before the semester begins |

- Update your development site, the master copy of your course, with correct dates and information pertinent to the new semester.
There should be one master development site for each course. We can provide development sites for the different types of semesters, e.g., Lenita Reeves MG 101 15 Week, Lenita Reeves MG 101 Summer. However, for effective server utilization, we do not create a development site every semester for every course. The development sites should become a limited number of master copies from which content is copied to delivery sites each semester. |

|
- If you want to copy content from a delivery site back to a development site, tech support can delete and recreate your development site to accommodate this. Please allow at least a two-day turn-around time for deletion and recreation of a development site.
|
Tech Support to complete once request received. |
- Update the Distance Learning Course Information Page for each of your online courses.

1 week before the semester begins |
|
- When you are ready to make your site available to students, use the Copy Content function to copy material:
- from your development site (e.g., John Smith PY 102), labeled with your name to your delivery site (e.g., PY-102-32284), labeled with a CRN
Until you have copied content to your delivery site, students who attempt to access the site will receive a message that the site is not yet ready. |

- Once you have copied content into your delivery site, students will be able to enter the site. If you do not want students to access your site until the first day of the semester:
- Copy content and then deny students access, or
- Delay copying content until the first day of class

During the Semester |
|
1st day of the semester |
|
- Grant access to students if you denied access while preparing for the semester.
*If you have signed a student into your course after the first day of the semester, make sure to check the gradebook and grant access if there is a red "X" beside their name. It is a good idea to check your roster each day during the first week of the semester. |

|
- Check your Banner and WebCT rosters to be sure they are in sync and that your WebCT rosters include any late registrants. Remember, the Banner roster is official. If there are students legitimately registered on Banner who do not appear on your WebCT roster, let the Office of Distance Learning (ODL) dl@montgomerycollege.edu know immediately.
