How do I extend the date of an assignment or assessment?

I want to be sure you understand the issue about changing dates for assignments and/or assessments on WebCT. Regardless of whether an assessment has already been taken or not, the availability dates can be extended without loss of assessment data. This is done all the time. You simply choose Edit Properties from the Action Menu and enter whatever extended date you choose. No student quiz data will be lost.

If you make a change to the content of an assessment that students have already taken, you will get a warning message asking if you really want to proceed. If what you're doing is editing, for example, an incorrectly coded answer in an assessment, it's safe to proceed (since you want the results updated). After making the change, return to the assessment and update the results.

There has apparently been a little confusion on this issue. But this is, in fact, how WebCT works when date extensions are made. Copying to a new quiz isn't an acceptable solution for allowing a given subset of students access to a quiz they missed since it would create another column in the gradebook that would make calculating final grades challenging.
