Admissions Information
All candidates seeking admission to the Diagnostic Medical Sonography
(DMS) Program must meet the College admission requirements. For detailed

Program Information:
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program at Montgomery
College (MC) began in 1992. The program is a fully accredited
ultrasound program by Joint Review Committee on Education
in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRCDMS). The DMS program
prepares students for their national board examinations
that are administered by the American Registry for Diagnostic
Medical Sonographers (ARDMS.)
Students in the DMS program
attend classes in the Health Science Building at the Takoma
Park Campus, as well as clinical rotation hours at their
assigned clinical affiliate. The number of days per week
that a student attends both class and clinical rotation
varies by semester. The number of days that are required of
students to be in the classroom or at the clinical affiliate
are given in the table below, by semester.
Two Years DMS Course Sequencing:
Each of the DMS courses builds upon courses offered in the previous
semester. The first year curriculum is given in Summer 1
(5 week session), Fall 1,
and Spring 1. Second year curriculum is offered in
Summer 2 (10 week session), Fall 2, Winter 2 (3 week
session) and Spring 2. Some credit hours consist of both lecture and lab
hours.
