Professor Don Day was honored at the Rockville Campus 40th Anniversary Gala in April 2006. During the event, former students surprised Professor Day by announcing that they had formed a “Don Day Scholarship” for engineering students. Dr. Day’s students believe that his involvement in their education, their lives and their futures, has provided them with transfer options and scholarships that are beyond their expectations. As graduates of Montgomery College and/or working engineers, they contacted each other and made the arrangements for this special scholarship, to provide opportunities for future students.

MC Alumni LogoNot only was Dr. Day amazed and moved by the gesture of his former students, but he also announced that he and his wife, Karen, have made arrangements for half of their estate to be donated to Montgomery College in the form of scholarships for engineering students. This announcement was a powerful statement about Professor Day’s love of students.

Donations for the “Don Day Scholarship” may be made to “Montgomery College Foundation.”
