Information Technology (I.T.) Internships

Professor Kimball, Project Manager, TechLEAP/WebLEAP, manages Information Technology internship programs for students with existing college degrees enrolled in the TechLEAP/WebLEAP program at Montgomery College, Maryland. TechLEAP/WebLEAP provides internships in programming, database, web design, and network administration to students who are registered for the TechLEAP/WebLEAP programs and are pursuing training or re-training through the program. TechLEAP is centered in the College's Gaithersburg Business Training Center, 12 South Summit Ave., Gaithersburg, MD, 20877.

Effective Spring 2007, Computer Applications, Computer Science, and Network and Wireless Department internships will be handled by the individual departments.   Please see the links below.

Students Registered at Other Colleges/Universities. Montgomery College's Computer Science internship programs are only available to students currently enrolled at Montgomery College, Montgomery County, Maryland. These programs do not provide IT internship opportunities to students enrolled at other universities or colleges in the United States or abroad,

Students With College Degrees. For students with college degrees seeking Programming, Web, database, or networking career retraining with internship placement, contact the Tech LEAP/Web LEAP program and Prof. Raymond Kimball, Raymond.Kimball@montgomerycollege.edu, Project Manager, 240-567-3825, in the Gaithersburg Business Training Center, 12 South Summit Ave., Gaithersburg, Maryland 20877.

Prof. Kimball, Project Manager, will continue to coordinate paid internships and part-time and full-time jobs for TechLEAP/WebLEAPTech LEAP/Web LEAP is a graduate training and placement program for students with existing college degrees.  Students are trained and placed in programming/database, web development, help desk and network administration opportunities.

Catalog Course Description - Type in "CA 269" or similar


CA/CS 269 - Computer Applications/Computer Science Internship
Students work for college credit in a professional environment related to their particular track in the [computer applications][computer science] program. The intent is to give students an appropriate work experience that will expand their knowledge and aid them in making career decisions. A limited number of internships are available through the program each semester, or the students may propose an internship. A comprehensive record of the work experience is kept by the student and discussed in seminar meetings. PREREQUISITE : Consent of internship coordinator and a minimum of 12 semester hours in program area. An internship will involve a minimum of five hours or work experience per semester hour each week for 15 weeks. Eight hours of seminar discussions each semester. May be repeated for a maximum of four credits.
