MC Library Catalog: Change the search engine setting to "Keyword Boolean" and create a Boolean Search Expression. There are three components to Boolean search expressions:
- Keywords: tend to be the nouns that best describe a topic
- Boolean Operators: AND, OR, and NOT
- Punctuation: quotation marks for phrases, parentheses with OR
Books By Topic: Here are some sample searches using keywords and Boolean operators:
- "physical education" AND history
- "physical education" AND philosophy
- exercise and physiol?
- "sports psychology"
- sport? and sociolog?

- Contains articles from over 700 education related journals.
- PsychArticles
- Contains articles from 55 peer-reviewed psychology journals from the American Psychological Association.
- Health Source - Nursing/Academic
- This database contains academic journals covering nutrition, kinesiology and health/medical related topics.
Results can be sorted by date or relevance. To print, use the button within the database.

Nutrition
- Gatorade Sports Institute
- Created in 1988 by the Gatorade Co. to conduct research in sports medicine, exercise science and fitness.
- Mayo Clinic Food and Nutrition Center
- A comprehensive site on nutrition from the Mayo Clinic.
- USDA Nutrient Database for Standard Reference
- This USDA site provides a search tool to look up the nutrient content of over 6,200 different foods.
