Educational and Professional
Background
Joyce Riseberg
has been teaching in the Mathematics Department at the Rockville Campus since
1973. She attended Vassar
College and graduated
magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in 1962 with a BA degree in Mathematics.
After college, she worked as a computer programmer for a year and then returned
to graduate school, receiving her MA in Mathematics from Boston University
in 1967. Professor Riseberg taught at Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill,
Massachusetts before moving to the Washington area and obtaining her position at Montgomery College. At MC, Professor Riseberg has taught a variety of courses and has served on
numerous committees and as Course Chair for Calculus I and II (MA 181 and 182)
and for Elementary Applied Calculus I
and II (MA 160 and 161). Professor Riseberg
retired from the full-time faculty at the end of the spring 2011 semester but
is continuing to teach part-time.
