Our interns come from Montgomery County and all over the world. Some are U.S. citizens, some have green cards, and others have student visas, diplomatic visas or other visas.

A person studying at Montgomery College under a visa and applying for the CA/CS Internship Program in the United States will need to go through a few extra steps to register for any internship he or she may obtain. The complete registration process for students on visas is listed below. Please take a moment to review it and prepare accordingly for your interview with the CA/CS 269 Internship Coordinator.

If you are on an F-1 Visa, you will need to do the following:

  1. Submit an original letter to Prof. Kimball from your proposed internship sponsor on the company’s letterhead, signed by your proposed company supervisor, which lists the following:

  1. Job Description

    Computer skills required;

  2. Duration of Internship (Start and End Dates. Note – should generally conform to semester start and end dates:

  1. Fall – September – December;

    Spring - January – May;

  2. Summer – June – August

  1. Hours per week you will work;

    Compensation

    Projects to be completed by the intern during the internship;

  2. Supervisor name, address, phone, and email.

  1. Obtain Departmental approval of your internship from Prof. Kimball or the Department chair;

    Obtain the appropriate signature of Prof. Kimball to register for CA/CS 269;

    Register for the course at the Registrar’s Office.

    Make an appointment with Marlon Vallejo Valencias in the Admissions office to obtain the necessary waiver approval for your visa. Prof. Kimball will forward a confirmation to Mr. Valencias. Take a copy of your company letter to the meeting with Mr. Valencias.

  2. If you are on any visa other than an F-1 visa, there may be additional requirements. Consult with Mr. Valencias or your admissions office representative.
