Course Description:
Use 3ds Max (formerly 3D Studio Max) to learn 3D animation skills, and continue to develop 3D modeling skills in this second-level course. This course will introduce 3D animation techniques and 3ds Max Character Studio to create and edit a walk cycle. Also learn the techniques of scene lighting, creating image files (rendering), particle systems and space warps. Animate dynamic objects, and learn to use 3D body dynamics. The course will include in-class, hands-on practice and lab time to develop models and animations.
Prerequisites: 3D Modeling with 3ds Max Level I, or equivalent 3D Modeling experience or training.
Textbook: Purchase at Rockville Campus Book Store and bring to first class along with a USB memory stick Flash Drive/memory stick (at least 512 MB).

- Develop basic animations using key frames in 3ds Max
- Use the 3ds Max Character Studio to create and edit a walk cycle
- Create a digital graphic biped character
- Apply lighting, shadows, atmospheres, and effects to 3D models and animations
