Adobe CS3 Web Design Lab; Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Flash, Fireworks - Creative Suite CS3, CMP922

Build or redesign your business or personal web site in an instructor-led design lab using the most popular commercial web design products from Adobe Creative Suite 3, Web Premium Edition. The lab will introduce advanced Dreamweaver design topics and review basic topics through lecture and demonstration as needed. Much of the class time will be run as an instructor - supervised web design learning laboratory. You will learn how to apply design techniques to your own web site with instructor help and design suggestions.

New topics include:

  • Dreamweaver CS3:
    • Page element positioning
    • Divisions and CSS
    • Designing templates
  • Designing web pages with CSS for different media types:
    • Screen view
    • Printers
    • Mobile devices
  • Incorporating AJAX-based Spry Widget elements:
    • Navigation bars
  • Photoshop
    • Designing graphics
    • Buttons in Photoshop and Fireworks
    • Exporting "sliced" graphics from Photoshop to Dreamweaver.

Textbook: Purchase textbook at Rockville campus bookstore and bring to first class. Also bring a USB Flash drive/memory stick, at least 512MB, which will enable you to save your work.

Prerequisites: Dreamweaver / Fireworks I (CMP220), Photoshop Basic (CMP863), and/or equivalent experience. Cascading Style Sheets (CMP843) and Flash Introduction (CMP221) recommended but not required.
