Create or Convert Your Web to WordPress: Content Management System (CMS), ITI-064
Use WordPress to create or convert web sites, content management systems, data-driven membership sites, and blogs. Learn how to easily customize WordPress to make the site "yours". Use WordPress' latest theme, Twenty ten, to create sites that are mobile-device compatible. Create and manage menus, images, headers, insert and edit content. Apply WordPress' built-in accessibility and search engine optimization (SEO) features. Topics also include: WordPress syntax, the WordPress Loop; themes and child themes, developing static pages using WordPress as a CMS; Image Gallery, plugins, and the WordPress toolbox. Students will get a one-month WordPress site for practice as part of the course fees.
Prerequisites:
Working with Windows, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), or equivalent experience. HTML Basic recommended, but not required.
Textbooks: Books may be purchased at the MC Bookstore or online. You will need to know the ITI #(course number) and CRN# (section number) for the class you are taking in order to look up information about the textbook.
Technology update: Please bring a Flash Drive/Memory Stick 512MB or larger to class which will enable you to save your class work.
