Montgomery College provides undergraduate and Workforce Development and Continuing Education programs for virtually all of the county's business, government, entertainment, and community service sectors. The College also provides employee, business, association, and government agency training on-campus, in-house, and online in virtually every field - management and professional development, Information Technology, and business specialties such as real estate, health sciences, food safety, and technical trades. Work with our Workforce Development and Continuing Education Division for open enrollment courses or customized instruction by one of our Training Institutes: The Gudelsky Institute for Technical Training, Health Sciences Institute, Hispanic Business Institute, the Information Technology Institute, other training departments, or credit departments. Enrollment training course, Montgomery County Demographics - Maryland's Largest, Best Educated County Montgomery County has a diverse population of over 927,000 (U.S. Census population est.2005) and is the largest county in Maryland. Montgomery County has one of the nation's most highly educated and diverse workforces, with a strong economy. The County has robust and growing information technology, biomedical, and health care sectors, based in part on the presence the National Institutes of Health, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and commercial, research, and incubator technology centers in Rockville, Gaithersburg, Germantown, Silver Spring, Bethesda, and other parts of the county. Montgomery College enrolls approximately 22,000 undergraduate and 28,000 adult education students annually, in an array of programs reflecting the energy and diversity of the county's population. As Maryland's largest community college, MC offers many business opportunities, co-op partnership and internship arrangements. The Macklin Business Institute, Rockville Campus, selects and trains honor sophomore students in business, accounting and finance, and provides them with business mentors and internship opportunities. Macklin also sponsors the Center for Entrepreneurship. The CFE serves as an educational, training, and enterprise resource for students and the business community, and provides a catalyst for growing business and entrepreneurial education. The Montgomery College Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization governed by business, alumni and community leaders to enhance the work of Montgomery College. Montgomery College provides multiple programs and initiatives to help businesses post opportunities and identify qualified students for internships and part-time or full-time jobs. The wide variety of employer assistance programs reflect the college's broad reach into all sectors of the Montgomery County community in Maryland's largest local government unit. You can post part-time and full-time jobs and internships at Montgomery College's EJobs web site. There is no charge for this service. Simply register as an employer and post your opportunity. The College's Student Employment Services Office will approve your posting within a day. Students then apply electronically or as you specify for your opening. You can also review and search posted student resumes. For additional assistance, please contact the college internship programs, undergraduate departments, and Workforce Development and Continuing Education programs such as TechLEAP/WebLEAP or the Health Sciences Institute to help you find qualified students with the technical skills and training you need. There are many traditional ways that business and alumni can contribute to and partner with Montgomery College. The Montgomery College Foundation, described above, organizes significant new initiatives for the College in a variety of areas. The College also has scholarship and internship opportunities, named endowed scholarships, and institutes such as the Paul Peck Institute for American Culture and Civic Engagement, Macklin Business Institute, Gudelsky Institute for Technical Education, and the proposed new Bioscience Education Center in Germantown, which offer contribution and partnership opportunities to area businesses.
