Some pages purposely make their pages look like "legitimate" web sites for satirical and/or political purposes.  These can be particulary tricky since they may look exactly like the real page.

Ask yourself the following questions:  Can you identify the author(s) or sponsor of the page?  Are there e-mail links and other links, like an address and phone number, to the creator of the webpage?  Are there verifiable footnotes or citations to the information that is placed on the web?  Does the URL (uniform resource locator or address of the webpage) give you any clues?  For instance, if you are looking for the White House, or any government webpage for that matter, .gov will be in the address.
