Borrowing, Renewing, and Fines

Montgomery College students and employees may have up to 20 items on their library account at a time. Community users may have up to five items on their library account at a time. Certain item types have additional restrictions. You can also learn about fines and fees and renewals.

MC students and employees must show their MC ID to borrow materials. Community users must show their library card to borrow materials.

Books, CDs, DVDs, Audiobooks

Group Study Room Keys

Only part-time faculty may use the group study rooms to meet with students when the room is not in use

One Button Studio Keys

Lost or Damaged Item Fees

MC students, MC employees, and community users will be charged the replacement or damaged item fee.

Return of Lost Materials

Replacement fee will be reimbursed within two years of the item being marked as lost in the library's system.

Renewals

Renewing an item extends the original due date and helps you avoid fines. You can request renewals in two ways:

  • Renew online through your library accountnew window. Log in to your account, navigate to the loans tab, and click the renew button on the items you’d like to renew.
  • Renew in person at the service desk of any campus library.
