    An excellent introduction to ESL materials on the Web for students of all levels.
  • ESL Gold - http://www.eslgold.com/
    For beginners and more advanced students. It offers vocabulary and grammar exercises, pronunciation guides and help for those studying for the TOEFL exam.
  • ESL Resources, Handouts and Exercises - http://owl.english.purdue.edu/handouts/esl/index.html
    This excellent resource includes a great deal of helpful information such as handouts covering a wide variety of topics, e.g. noun-verb agreement, and helpful online exercises.
  • Ohio ESL - http://www.ohiou.edu/esl/english/index.html
    A wonderful comprehensive site and an excellent starting point for finding ESL resources on the Web.

    This list of links will lead to interesting and fun sites which will help increase reading comprehension.

  • Bilingual Dictionaries -

    This site,from the University of Geneva, lists many bilingual dictionaries.
  • Idiom Connection -http://www.idiomconnection.com/
    Lists and defines many idioms both alphabetically and by topic. Quizzes are provided as well.
  • Merriam-Webster Online - http://www.m-w.com/
    This site provides a thesaurus and a dictionary. The dictionary will pronounce words for you.
  • One Look Dictionary Search - http://www.onelook.com/
    This page lets you search many (112) dictionaries at once. The quality of the dictionaries searched is uneven, but this is still a good place to start looking for the definition of a word.
  • Oxymorons - http://www.topskills.com/oxymorons.htm
    This site lists and explains oxymorons, a feature of English where contradictory terms are placed together to create a new meaning. "Old news" is an example.
  • Dictionary of Spanish and English - http://www.spanishdict.com/
    Includes English to Spanish and Spanish to English words with pronunciations in both English and Spanish.

    Exhaustive and authoritative, most useful for advanced students.

    A collection of links to sites that offer a wide variety of online listening opportunities.
  • Randall's ESL Cyber Listening Lab - http://www.esl-lab.com/
    Requires that users download Real Player. This page presents listening exercises divided into Easy, Medium and Difficult levels.
