                     Evaluating Articles: Step 2

Many journals, not only include articles, but other sections as well.  These sections may be an editorial page, a news brief section, and letters to the editor.  Even though they may be included in a scholarly journal, it does not mean they are considered an article.  When searching the database for articles, make sure that there are no headings that indicate the information is from a section such as those listed above.  Also remember to use the criteria in the Scholarly vs. Popular part of the tutorial such as abstracts, author credentials, bibliographies, etc. to make sure that the information you have found is indeed an article.
