Popular magazines will have the following features:

  1. The articles are not peer reviewed or refereed.

  2. Articles are written for the general public.

  3. Articles are written by professional writers or journalists or the name of  the author may not be provided.

  4. If the author is indicated, only the name is provided with no additional qualifications about the author.

  5. Information about original research may be provided but not published.

  6. Usually there is not a bibliography provided.

  7. Magazines are published more frequently such as weekly as opposed to quarterly.

  8. Language is familiar to the general public and less technical or specialized.
