 Journal Articles (Continuous pagination):

Continuous pagination means that each issue in a particular volume starts with page 1 in the first issue and continues numerically with each issue in the volume.   If this is the case with the journal you are using in your reference list, only volume and year are used in the citation.

 

e.g.  Modern Fiction Studies, 43 , 251-81.

 

Journal Articles (Pages each issue separately)

This means that each separate issue within the volume will start with page 1.  In the citation, you must provide the issue number in parentheses following the volume number. 

 

e.g.  Foreign Affairs , 82 (4), 41-50.
