                               Books: Step 2

Books vary as to the citation information available. Some books have only one author, other books have more than one author, and some even have no authors.  The examples below show how to cite books in a reference page.  If you are using a book that includes citation information not covered in this tutorial, you can consult the APA  Publication , ask the Reference Librarian for help, or visit the Writing and Reading Center.

Book with one author:

Foehr, S. (2000). Jamaican warriors: Reggae, roots & culture.

     London: Sanctuary.

Book with more than one author:

Foehr, S, and Smith, J.  (2000). Jamaican warriors: Reggae,

     roots & culture.  London:  Sanctuary.

If there are more than six authors, list only the first six authors followed by the phrase et al.

Wimple, P. B., Van Eijk, M., Potts, C. A., Hayes, J. Obergau, W. B.,

     Zimmer, S., et al.

Book without the authors name:

Jamaican warriors: Reggae, roots & culture. (2000). London:

      Sanctuary.

Note:

Author = last name first

Book Title = underline or italicize and capitalize word after a colon

Punctuation = include periods between parts of entry
