                        In-Text Citations: Step 3

●  If the source does not tell the name of the author, use the first two or three words of the title (excluding The, A, or An ) in place of an author's name.  Capitalize the first letter of significant words in all titles cited in the text and any proper nouns.  In the references list, however, only capitalize the first word of the title and do not include quotation marks.

Example:

       ("Chomsky for Beginners," 2002, p. 5).

●  If you are using a quotation that your source took from another source, use "qtd. in" to indicate the original source.

Example:

       (qtd. in Chomsky, 2002, p. 5).

●   If the source has two or more authors with the same last name, provide both authors'

first initials or even full names if the authors share initials.

Example:

     (A. Chomsky and N. Chomsky, 2003, p. 6).

●  If you cite more than one work by a particular author, include a shortened title for the work you are quoting to distinguish from other works by the same author.

     (N. Chomsky, "After the Cataclysm," 2003, p. 10).

     (N. Chomsky, "Necessary Illusions," 2003, p. 5).
