staff can access databases from on or off-campus. To access
Literature Resource Center:

- Click on Databases by Subject. Scroll down the screen to the
Literature category and click on Literature Resource
Center.

you click on the link to the database, you will be asked to log
in. Enter your Montgomery College ID ("M number,"
including the M) in the box. Problems logging in? Try the

How
do I search the Literature Resource Center?
There
are many different ways to search the Literature Resource Center: by
Author, Title, Keyword, Authors by Type, Literary-Historical
Timeline, or Advanced. The search screen will default to
the Author search; to change the search method click on the options
below the search box.
- Author: Enter part or all of the author's
name in the search box, in any order (e.g., chinua
achebe; achebe, chinua; or achebe)
- Title: Enter all or part of the title. The
database will search for "any of the words entered" in the title,
but you can also change this to "all of the words entered" or
"exact title."
- Keyword: This allows you to search for a
combination of different keywords, for example part of an author's
name and part of a title (e.g., achebe fall apart).
- Authors by Type: This allows you to search
for an author by name, nationality, ethnicity, genre, time period,
or even the themes that they write about.
- Advanced: This is a more specific search that
allows you to use and, or, & not to connect
your keywords.
- Literary-Historical Timeline: This allows you
to search for events that occurred during a specific range of
time, including authors' published works, birth and death years of
authors, and historical world events.
How can I view my search results?
Each of the search types will display your results a
little bit differently. You may see a list of authors' names or
titles to choose from. Click on the author or title to retrieve
information. After you select the author or title you are looking
for, you will see a set of tabs. Click on each tab to access
biographies, literary criticism, articles, and overviews of authors'
work, bibliographies, a timeline, and more resources.
Most of the documents in the Literature Resource Center have the
full text available. Click on the article title to see the full
text. If it is not available in the database, you may be able to
access it in a different database or in the library by clicking
"Check for full text via Article Linker."
How do I print and email articles?
- When you are viewing the full text of a document, look for the
print & e-mail icons near the top-left corner of the screen:
- To Print: Select the print icon. The article
will be re-formatted for printing and will open in a new screen.
Select File > Print from the browser menu to print.
- To Email: Select the email icon. To send the
