Journal and Magazine Articles: Step 2

Articles in magazines and journals will vary as to the citation information available.  Some journals and magazines use continuous paging throughout all the issues of a volume; others start each issue at page 1.

Citations for articles from electronic databases need to include: the name of the database underlined or italicized, the name of the library with a city and state abbreviation, date you retrieved the article, and the URL of the vendor for the citation entry in < >.  Below and on the following pages are some examples.

Magazine Articles: (From a paper copy of the magazine)

Lavelle, Marianne.  "Behind the Teen Birth Decline."  U.S. News &

      World Report  8 Aug.  2003: 22. Print.

Journal Articles: (From an electronic database)

Boot, Max.  "The New American Way of War."  Foreign Affairs  82.4

     (2003): 41-50.  Academic OneFile.  Web. 6 Jan. 2009.
