Obviously, there are some times when you do not need to give credit or cite your sources.  Some of these are when

  • you are discussing items of common knowledge such as George Washington was the first president of the United States or there are 26 letters in the English alphabet, or;

  • you are writing up your own original observations, thoughts, or opinions such as those you might do for a case study, a lab report or experiment, an observation, etc.
