Well, clearly, not everyone is doing it based on the results of the survey mentioned on the previous page.   Most students are ethical and realize that downloading a paper is wrong.  Many students, however, are under time constraints and believe that cutting and pasting from various sources is not a problem and do not even realize that they are plagiarizing when they do this. 

In the next couple of screens, we will discuss how to avoid plagiarism and what you must cite and what you don't have to cite.

First, though, some students think that there are no consequences for plagiarizing.  So, does Montgomery College have policies on plagiarism and how do professors at Montgomery College handle cases of plagiarism?  We'll review that in the next two screens...
