Montgomery College Exhibits Mouth-Watering Food Illustrations
“The Art of Self-Promotion” Features the Talents of 13 Artists

Did you know that the month of January is dedicated to oatmeal-eating?  That April is National Soft Pretzel Month?  And, September is for the spuds?  These food facts and accompanying illustrations of everything from root beer to cream puffs will tempt the taste buds of visitors at Montgomery College’s newest exhibit, “The Art of Self-Promotion,” currently on display at the Visual Communications Technologies (VCT) Gallery, located on the Rockville Campus, 51 Mannakee Street.  The exhibit will remain open through December 21.  With food as the exhibit’s theme, the opening reception will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m., with plenty of tasty treats to sample.

“The Art of Self-Promotion” features the 13 illustrations that are part of the “Images of 2005: The You-Gotta-Be-Kidding, Is-This-For-Real?  Off-the-Wall Wall Calendar,” a promotional calendar produced by Brecher Design Group and printed by Huffman Press, both of Alexandria, Virginia.  The exhibit also shows the artists’ creative processes through the display of the early designs and sketches for the calendar.  The 13 area illustrators who worked on the calendar are: Julie Abramson, Loel Barr, Julie Bowman, Charlotte Fremaux, Michael Gibbs, Sherill Anne Gross, Art Landerman, Lucinda Levine, Lina Chesak Liberace, Annie Lunsford, Barbara Quinn, Linda Silk, and Montgomery College Professor Martha Vaughan, organizer of the exhibit.

The VCT Gallery is located on the ground floor of the Technical Center at the College’s Rockville Campus.  Hours for the gallery are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-10 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
