Montgomery College Launches New Driver Education Course

College’s MVA Licensed Program Offered in Gaithersburg, Beginning in June  

Montgomery College announces the launch of a new program to teach driver education, beginning with the first two-week session on June 19 and continuing summer sessions on July 10, July 31, with the last offering for the summer on August 21. Operated by the College’s Workforce Development & Continuing Development unit, the new course will be offered through Montgomery College’s Business Training Center in Gaithersburg at 12 S. Summit Avenue.

Montgomery College’s driver education course will be taught at the Gaithersburg center, weeknights from 6-9 p.m. It is preceded by a mandatory Saturday morning orientation, from 9 a.m.-noon. The course features 30 hours of classroom time, six hours of on-the-road driving instruction and the three-hour orientation session. This program is licensed and certified by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration, as are all instructors.

Prospective students must have a learner’s permit, as issued by MVA. The purpose of the driver education course is to prepare students to take the Maryland driver examination. Registration is now underway for each of the summer sessions and class size is limited. The cost is $375. To register, call 240-567-5188.
