Montgomery College Offers Fall Classes in Driver Education

Collegeís MVA Licensed Program Offered in Gaithersburg

Montgomery Collegeís Workforce Development and Continuing Education unit is offering two classes in driver education this fall, starting September 11 and October 30.  The classroom sessions are taught at Montgomery Collegeís Business Training Center in Gaithersburg at 12 S. Summit Avenue, twice a week from 6-9 p.m.  Driving sessions are scheduled on a Saturday or Sunday.

The course features a three-hour orientation, 30 hours of classroom time, and six hours of on-the-road driving instruction.  The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration requires students to attend the orientation session accompanied by a parent or mentor, where they will become acquainted with the class requirements and Marylandís Graduated Drive Licensing Law.  The classes are licensed and certified by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration, as are all instructors.

Prospective students must have a learnerís permit, as issued by MVA. The purpose of the driver education course is to prepare students to take the Maryland driver examination. Registration is now underway for each of the fall sessions and class size is limited. The cost is $385 for Maryland residents.  Out-of-state residents pay an additional $160 fee.
