Montgomery College Holds IT Careers Open House, January 21

Montgomery College is hosting an Information Technology (IT) Careers Open House on Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at the Gaithersburg Business Training Center located at 12 South Summit Avenue in Gaithersburg, Md. Two sessions are being offered, a mid-day session from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and an evening session from 5 – 8 p.m. Both sessions will be held in Rooms 402-403. Free parking is available in the building’s parking garage.

Sponsored by the College’s Information Technology Institute (ITI) and TechLEAP/WebLEAP programs, the Open House is designed for those interested in IT careers as well as other areas of employment that require competency in computer skills. Some of the careers and educational training that will be discussed include Office Administration, Quickbooks, Web Development and Design, Programming, Digital Imaging, 3D Modeling and Animation, Certifications in Oracle Database, CCNA and MCDST.

Participants will meet ITI instructors and career advisors. All participants are encouraged to bring their resumes and portfolios, as well as questions about techniques to use when interviewing for employment. The professionals on site will answer questions, give advice, and critique the resumes and portfolios. In addition, participants will have an opportunity to tour the College’s training facility.
