The Illustrators Club of Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia will exhibit the art work of its members at Montgomery College’s Communication Arts Technologies (CAT) Gallery through February 24.  The CAT Gallery is located at Montgomery College’s Rockville Campus on the ground floor of the Technical Center, 51 Mannakee Street, Rockville, Md.  An opening reception will be held Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.  The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.

The exhibit features illustrations by 34 professional illustrators, who used a variety of media such as acrylics, pen and ink, collage, watercolor, and computers.  The illustrations include published works that first appeared in advertisements, newspaper editorials, or at retail stores as well as works that were created for personal interest or as an experiment.  Several of the artists are educators, including two professors from Montgomery College’s advertising art program—Patricia Johannsen and Martha Vaughan—and several professors from Virginia Commonwealth University and the Art Institute of Washington.

The Illustrators Club is a non-profit, all-volunteer trade association dedicated to promoting the art and business of illustration since 1986.  Members include professional illustrators, graphic designers, educators, and students.

The hours for the CAT Gallery are Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m.–10 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.  For more information, call 301-251-7521.
