Montgomery College to Hold Information Sessions for Students with Disabilities
March 16, 30 Sessions Introduce High School Students and Parents to Services

Montgomery College will hold two upcoming information sessions about the College’s services for students with disabilities and learning disabilities. On Thursday, March 16, the College’s Department of Disability Support Services will offer general information to prospective students and parents. On Thursday, March 30, the College will host an in-depth information session about the College Access Program (CAP), which serves students with learning disabilities. Both events will be held from 7–9 p.m. at College’s Rockville Campus, in the Technical Center, Room 136, 51 Mannakee Street, Rockville, Md.

At the March 16 general information session, staff from the Montgomery College Department of Disability Support Services will discuss eligibility requirements, types of services available, and appropriate course placements.

The March 30 session, highlighting the College Access Program, is designed for current high school students in their junior or senior year, and their parents. Founded in 1978, CAP is an intensive program that helps qualified students with learning disabilities build the reading, writing, and study skills they need to succeed in college and in life.  Students selected for the program receive tutoring and counseling support, and take classes in English, reading, college survival and study skills.

During the CAP information session, faculty, staff, and a group of current Montgomery College students, who have learning disabilities and have completed the CAP program, will talk about eligibility, application and placement, course offerings, and counseling/support services.

To request disability-related accommodations at the information nights, please contact Chanel Riley, in the Disability Support Services Office, at 301-279-5058.
