Montgomery College Offers Opportunities to Travel, Study with the Experts
International Education Tours Designed for Older Adults, Openings Available for Spring, Summer

Older adults looking for unique travel opportunities should consider participating in Montgomery College’s Lifelong Learning Institute’s international learning vacations. Through a nationwide network of more than 300 institutions of education spanning the globe, the Lifetime Learning Institute (LLI) provides quality educational tours focused on older adults, 50 years of age and up, who are interested in expanding their education and horizons.

The Lifelong Learning Institute vacations allow participants to learn first-hand about the history, art, culture, and customs of the country visited. Each trip is a carefully planned “classroom in the field” experience. On-site lectures, seminars, and field experiences, are provided by faculty escorts, in-country specialists, and local residents’ foster insight and understanding about foreign cultures.

This spring, LLI will offer tours to China, Costa Rica, Egypt, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Morocco, Spain, and Turkey. Summer destinations include China, Egypt, Galapagos Islands, Ecuador, Greece, Ireland, Jordan, Kenya, Peru, Russia, Spain, and Turkey.

Each tour averages 14 participants. This allows the members of the group to have individualized attention and to have the opportunity to build close relationships with each other and the guides.

These vacations range in price from $2,000 to $5,000. The cost includes all meals, first-class accommodations and unique learning experiences. The LLI also offers trips priced for the budget-conscious adult called New Budget Learning Vacations.

For more information about these travel programs, call Gary Hong, director of the Lifelong Learning Institute at Montgomery College, at 301-353-7869 or contact him by email at
