Montgomery College’s Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus recently opened an exhibit that showcases artist Raya Bodnarchuk’s planned sculptures for the Forest Glen Pedestrian Bridge. The exhibit will run now through May 6 in the art gallery, located in the Pavilion of Fine Arts at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus.

The exhibit features the drawings and maquettes, which are small sculptures made in preparation of full-size works, created by Bodnarchuk for the Forest Glen project. In 2001, Bodnarchuk was commissioned by the Public Arts Trust and the Montgomery County Department of Public Works and Transportation to create the sculptures, which will be installed near the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Route 495 in Silver Spring.

Bodnarchuk, a Glen Echo resident, taught at Montgomery College in the late 1970s to the early 1980s. Currently, she is an associate professor at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington. Her art has been featured in solo exhibition in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Washington, D.C. She has participated in group exhibits throughout the Washington metropolitan area and in Rhode Island and New York.

The art gallery is on the first floor of the Pavilion of Fine Arts, located on New York Avenue, between Chicago and Takoma Avenues in Takoma Park, Md. The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
