Silver Spring;
See below for parking information and directions.

Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley and Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown will visit the construction site for Montgomery College’s new cultural arts center, the last building to be constructed as part of a multi-phase expansion of the Takoma Park Campus into south Silver Spring that began in the late 1990s. The Governor will present Montgomery College President Brian K. Johnson and other officials with a ceremonial check for the final funding on the project.

Other phases of the campus expansion project included the construction of a new health sciences center, a student services center, a visual art center that will open later this year, and a major pedestrian bridge that crosses the Metro and railroad tracks, to connect the original Takoma Park portion of the campus with its new section in Silver Spring along the Georgia Avenue corridor, just north of the Washington, D.C. border.

When completed in late 2008, the cultural arts center will house a 500-seat auditorium, a black box theatre, classrooms, a rehearsal studio, and a film editing lab, and other facilities. It will be used for musical and theatre performances, college events and community activities.
