CNN White House Correspondent Suzanne Malveaux to Address Montgomery College Class of 2009 at May 22 Commencement
Four High-Achieving Students to Speak and Share Their Life Experiences with Fellow Graduates

WHO: Montgomery College will honor graduates from its three campuses in Montgomery County, Md.—Germantown, Rockville, and Takoma Park/Silver Spring—along with apprenticeship graduates from Workforce Development and Continuing Education. Nearly 700 students are expected to participate in this year’s commencement ceremonies. In total, more than 4,000 graduates, faculty, staff, alumni, friends and family are expected to be in attendance.

WHAT: CNN White House correspondent Suzanne Malveaux will deliver the keynote address at Montgomery College’s 62nd commencement. Malveaux covered the 2004 and 2008 presidential elections, Hurricane Katrina, and the tsunami in Asia for the national network.

In addition to Malveaux, four students representing each of the campuses and the continuing education division will speak. Malveaux will join Dr. Don Day, retired engineering professor, and his wife Dr. Karen Gruner, and Montgomery College Foundation Board Chair Douglas Firstenberg in receiving honorary degrees from Montgomery College.

Please Note: The North Campus Drive entrance to campus will be closed that morning. Montgomery College commencement is a ticketed event. PARKING: Reporters are invited to park in the lot closest to the commencement ceremony. Please present your press credentials to the security officers for access to the parking lot.
