Montgomery College received two awards from the Alliance for Workplace Excellence, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to position workplace excellence as a competitive advantage in the public, private and nonprofit business community by building and recognizing ‘Excellent Places to Work.’ In addition to winning the ‘Workplace Excellence’ Seal of Approval for the second year in a row, the College also was honored with the 2006 Health and Wellness Trailblazer Award.
Employers that received the ‘Workplace Excellence’ Seal of Approval were found to provide workplaces where employees are able to achieve success in all aspects of their professional and personal lives while enhancing the business bottom-line.
“We strive to make Montgomery College a great place to work, as well as to learn, and so we’re very proud to be recognized with these prestigious honors,” said Dr. Charlene R. Nunley, president of Montgomery College.
Businesses were assessed by an independent review panel in the areas of inclusive and flexible corporate culture and management practices, family and employee friendly policies and programs, strong health and wellness initiatives, growth and learning opportunities and commitment to corporate, social and civic responsibility.
The 2006 Health and Wellness Trailblazer Award recognized employers that demonstrate exemplary commitment to the overall physical and mental health of their workforce. The Alliance for Workplace Excellence partnered with the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce to present this award.
Forty-eight Maryland employers were chosen to receive the Seal of Approval, representing over one million employees from small, medium and large, private, nonprofit and public sectors.
