Montgomery College Recognized by Alliance for Workplace Excellence
College Wins ‘Workplace Excellence’ Seal of Approval, Health and Wellness Trailblazer Award

Montgomery College received two awards from the Alliance for Workplace Excellence, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to position workplace excellence as a competitive advantage in the public, private and nonprofit business community by building and recognizing ‘Excellent Places to Work.’

In addition to winning the Workplace Excellence Seal of Approval for the third year in a row, the College also was honored for a second time with the 2007 Health and Wellness Trailblazer Award.

Employers that receive the Workplace Excellence Seal of Approval provide workplaces where employees are able to achieve success in all aspects of their professional and personal lives while enhancing the business bottom-line.

“Montgomery College is a wonderful place to grow, learn, and work, and we are proud that the Alliance has recognized us with this prestigious honor,” said Dr. Brian K. Johnson, president of Montgomery College.

Businesses were assessed by an independent review panel in the areas of inclusive and flexible corporate culture and management practices, family and employee friendly policies and programs, strong health and wellness initiatives, growth and learning opportunities and commitment to corporate, social and civic responsibility.

The 2007 Health and Wellness Trailblazer Award recognizes employers that demonstrate exemplary commitment to the overall physical and mental health of their workforce. The Alliance for Workplace Excellence partnered with the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce to present this award.

Fifty-nine employers from the Greater Washington, D.C. Area were chosen to receive the Workplace Excellence Award and 13 were selected to receive the Health & Wellness Trailblazer Award, representing over one million employees from small, medium and large, private, and nonprofit and public sectors.
