Montgomery College Hispanic Business and Training Institute (HBTI) and the Maryland Small Business Development Center (MDSBDC), Capital Region, recently partnered together to address the Hispanic business development needs of Montgomery County. This new “Latino Business Initiative” will focus on providing bilingual and bicultural technical assistance to emerging Hispanic entrepreneurs and businesses.
The HBTI offers noncredit business training in Spanish to area residents, employees, and employers. The MDSBDC provides management training, technical assistance and counseling to small businesses in Maryland. An advisory committee of representatives from business, government, educational institutions, and the private sector will provide added support and resources to the initiative. The new partnership will enhance opportunities for Hispanic businesses by providing them with the tools they need to build successful enterprises and create new employment opportunities.
After the ceremony, a tour will be conducted of the new MDSBDC offices at the Wheaton Business Innovation Center.
