Montgomery College Offers Driver Safety and Education Classes This Fall
College’s MVA Licensed Program Offered in Gaithersburg

Montgomery College’s Workforce Development and Continuing Education unit offers a series of driver safety programs designed for drivers of every age, from teenagers to adults.  Driver improvement lessons for two, four, or six hours behind the wheel are available to those who need more practice or a skills refresher.  These lessons range in price from $100 to $300.  Montgomery College also offers a six-hour behind the wheel driving course, designed for students who have completed the classroom portion of a driver education class elsewhere.  The cost is $225.   For these courses, out-of-state residents must pay an additional fee.

In addition, Montgomery College will hold two driver education classes this fall, starting September 12 and October 27.  The first class is taught Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights from 6 to 9 p.m.  The second class runs every Tuesday and Thursday night from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.  All sessions are taught at Montgomery College’s Business Training Center in Gaithersburg at 12 S. Summit Avenue.  Driving sessions are scheduled on a Saturday or Sunday.

The course features a three-hour orientation, 30 hours of classroom time, and six hours of on-the-road driving instruction.  The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration requires students to attend the orientation session accompanied by a parent or mentor, where they will become acquainted with the class requirements and Maryland’s Graduated Drive Licensing Law.  The classes are licensed and certified by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration, as are all instructors.

Prospective students must have a learner’s permit, as issued by MVA. The purpose of the driver education course is to prepare students to take the examination for a Maryland driver’s license.  Registration is now underway for each of the fall sessions and class size is limited. The cost is $395 for Maryland residents.  Out-of-state residents pay an additional $160 fee.

For registration and general information about any of the driver safety courses, call 301-279-5188 or visit www.montgomerycollege.edu/wdce.
