NEW SPEAKER: Montgomery College Hosts Spectrum Lecture on ‘The Outlook for Energy’
ExxonMobil’s Daniel Zivney will Talk at Germantown Campus, Oct. 23

ExxonMobil’s Daniel Zivney will speak at Montgomery College-Germantown on Monday, Oct. 23, as part of its 2006 Spectrum Lecture Series. His talk, entitled “The Outlook for Energy – A View to 2030,” will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Globe Hall, which is located in the High Technology and Science Center, 20200 Observation Drive, Germantown, Md. This event is free and open to the public.

Like all Spectrum Lectures, Zivney’s presentation is designed for a non-scientific audience, enabling scientists, students, and the community to learn about ground-breaking advancements in science. Zivney will highlight ExxonMobil's global energy outlook, with an assessment of supply and demand through 2030. This outlook underscores the connection between economic growth and energy consumption, and the importance of meeting key energy supply and demand challenges to improve economic prosperity around the world.

Zivney is a project executive of New Source Review for ExxonMobil Refining and Supply. He is responsible for a number of major investments within the corporation’s U.S. refineries to further improve the environmental performance of its facilities.

Zivney has his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Texas A & M University. He began working for Mobil at the Beaumont, Texas refinery. He went on to work in process design, technical service, planning and supply operations, before transferring to the Exploration and Production businesses. For eight years, he also worked in Corporate Planning, U.S. Marketing, Financial and Information Services. After the merger of ExxonMobil, Zivney managed the Chalmette (Louisiana) Refinery.

For more information about the Spectrum Lecture, contact Dr. Susan Bontems, assistant professor of chemistry, by email at or call 301-353-7740.
