Emergency Medicine Focus of Montgomery College Youth Camps
Montgomery County, MD -- Has your third grader been pining for something that will keep his interest in science burning through the summer? Or maybe your seventh grader has announced she wants to be doctor when she grows up.
Montgomery Colleges Continuing Education Youth Programs have just the prescription for these ailments two summer camps whose themes are the world of emergency medicine and learning activities to reinforce elementary and middle school science, math and reading. The curriculum for the camps learning activities, which was developed in partnership with the Discovery Channel, will be taught by science teachers from Montgomery County Public Schools. The day camps will held on the Takoma Park campus of Montgomery College between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
For campers in grades 35 , Pre+Medtm: Emergency Room , campers will experience what its like in a real, emergency room through setting up an examining room, assembling and labeling of the bones of a skeleton and even a bit of dissecting. For middle school campers, Pre+Medtmtm: Code Blue will take them from medical school to research lab while they learn how the brain functions, how humankind has combated dread viruses and a final adventure involving them a simulated Code Blue medical emergency.
There is still room for additional enrollment in each of the camps, both of which will be offered between July 10 and July 21 in Takoma Park. The per-child tuition for each camp is $370, which includes a materials fee. Tuition for out-of-state participants is $450. For more information about registration, call 240-567-7917 or 240-567-7939.
