Montgomery College Students Awarded Scholarships for University System
Three Students Honored for Academic Achievement by Maryland Board of Regents
Montgomery County, Maryland -- Three transferring Montgomery College students have been awarded full academic scholarships from the University System of Maryland's Board of Regents. The scholarships will allow them to pursue their bachelor degrees at any of the four-year schools within the University System of Maryland.
Alfred R. Bell of Germantown, Odali M. Harrison of Silver Spring and Asiya Ourmanova of Rockville were each awarded a Board of Regents scholarship in recognition of their carrying a 4.0 grade point average and their extracurricular activities while studying at Montgomery College.
Bell and Harrison will be attending the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and Ourmanova -- who was one of the first students in Montgomery College's new Macklin Business Institute, an honors program -- will attend the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland College Park.
The USM Board of Regent Scholarship program was established to recognize outstanding community college transfer students and to free them from financial concerns as they pursue their studies full time. Scholarship students must maintain at 3.5 grade point and complete their degree in two years.
