Post
| Germantown, Maryland -- Dr. Hercules Pinkney has been
named the new provost of Montgomery Colleges Germantown Campus. He will assume the
head post on August 7. Pinkney, who has 27 years of administrative experience in higher education, currently serves as vice president for Continuing Education and Evening Programs at Prince Georges Community College in Largo. Between 1983 and 1989, he directed the Continuing Education Office of the Maryland State Board of Community Colleges. Prior to that, Pinkney served as an assistant dean in Montgomery Colleges Continuing Education program. He has also served as president of the Maryland Community College Association for Continuing Education and Training. |
"Dr. Pinkney brings a tremendous background in community college administration and we are delighted to welcome him back to Montgomery College," said Dr. Charlene R. Nunley, president of Montgomery College.
A resident of Burtonsville, Pinkney holds a doctorate in Education Administration from Virginia Tech and a Masters of Science in Education from South Carolina State College. He has been an administrator and faculty member at three community colleges and two four-year colleges. He began his education career as an elementary school science teacher in Sumter, South Carolina.
Pinkney replaces Dr. Noreen Lyne, who left the College in June to direct the operation of Maryland On Line, a non-profit group working to promote and facilitate distance learning programs at community colleges and universities state wide.
